Biography

I was born in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom and for most of my childhood music was not a major part of my life. Sure, I would listen as my mother played her old vinyl LP's and watch her be moved by the music, vocals and lyrics. But I never realized the influence of the music until much later in my life.

By the time I reached my late teens, I began listening to heavy metal and from then on, music became a passion. As with most young metal fans, a guitar is a must for the bedroom and my first was a Marlin Bass guitar. I began to learn the 12 bar blues and then started to mimic the bass lines in my favorite songs.

For the first time, I could actually hear a bass line in a song and it was like an awakening. Listening to the mixture of sounds from rhythm guitar to bass to the drums.

Not long after starting with the bass, I progressed to rhythm guitar and I really started to take music more seriously. Some old school friends and I formed a number of bands and we would get together and perform cover versions of Black Sabbath and Metallica songs.

Every penny of my salary would go into albums or musical equipment. I was hooked.

Before long, my life changed with the news that I was soon to be a father and my career outside of music become the priority. Music took a back seat. But not for long.

In 2001, I began to experiment with PCs and their ability to allow me to create tracks that I was unable to do before. Over the years leading up to 2001, my music taste had spread into many sectors which gave me a broader spectrum of influences. I began to play with samples, putting tracks together just for fun.

Then, in 2002, my life changed again and I relocated to the USA. During the long months of waiting for immigration to approve work permits and status amendments, I began once again to play with music. But this time, I was more passionate and I was more determined to create something special. For that, I have to thank my wife as she gave me the support I needed.

In 2004, I wrote a concept album called, 'Migration Of The Utopians' which was based on a short story I wrote. I converted the story into music which was largerly based around loops. I also wrote a second CD, 'Sound On The Waves' which included three tracks with my first attempts at vocal work.

These first two albums were available online but were recently removed as I think they do not reflect the nature of the project as it stands now.

In 2005, the official debut CD was released entitled, 'Another Side To Me' and this project had a lot more weight behind it. The vocals improved along with the tracks, mainly due to loops being replaced by self composed melodies. Leaving the confines of pre-developed loops opened the door to greater possibilities and there marks the start of PROJECT359 in earnest.

Each CD marks a change in my life and a change in styles. My latest work will always be very different from anything I have done before as I feel that there is still much more to be accomplished. The learning never stops and there are always new things to learn.

PROJECT359 has been hatched, weaned, and finally ready to fly. Only the listeners determine how high.
